LANGUAGE HELP

Although this site is predominately written in English, some sections of the site are available in other languages.

Currently, all ten Visit Hebrides sites’ home pages (see circular logo links at the top of each page) are translated in to French, German, Dutch, Italian and Spanish and the Frequently Asked Questions section (see left hand menu) is also available. The Culturehebrides.com site also has some Scots Gaelic content.

You can set your preferred language for the site you are currently viewing only by clicking a link below.

Alternatively, this page contains simple instructions on how to set up your web browser so that sites which provide multi-lingual content can automatically choose the appropriate content to display for you.

Setting the language of your browser. (preferred method)

You can configure your browser so that it tells a web site which languages you would prefer to see.

This works well for sites such as Google search engine, which offers content in a variety of languages.

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer:

  • go to Tools -> Internet Options
  • on the General page, click the Languages button
  • click the Add... button
  • find the language you wish to add to your list of preferred languages (for example German (German)[de] or Gaelic[gd]) and click OK
  • click on the languages in the list and put the in order of preference using the Move Up and Move Down buttons
  • Click OK to close the Languages dialog box
  • Click OK again to close the Internet Options dialog box.

If you are using another browser such as Netscape or Opera, the procedure will be similar. Check your browsers Help for more information.

Where can I find the pages that are translated?

First of all, change your browser language preference to the desired language. Then to reach the pages translated in to French, Dutch, Italian and Spanish, click on the circular logos at the top of each page:
