Homecoming Scotland 2009

Eating & Drinking

"All that fresh air and exploring is bound to work up an appetite."

All over the Western Isles you will find excellent hotels and restaurants serving exciting menus to make the mouth water. From the more remote locations - which guarantee a fantastic view with your meal - to the centre of Stornoway, menus are created to suit every palate.

Stornoway has excellent Chinese, Thai and Indian restaurants and, for authentic Scottish menus, you are spoilt for choice. Chefs pride themselves on using local produce as much as possible, and the crofting and fishing industry on the islands ensures the chefs have a wide range of high quality ingredients from which to choose.

Naturally, fresh seafood is featured heavily with the catch landed that morning, often put straight into the pot. Delicious seafood platters make the most of the variety of shellfish available offshore.
